Bring the squad to the arcade. At Pixel Museum, you get to see and try video game consoles from as far back as 1972. Whether you’re into retro, modern or indie you’re sure to discover something here to play. Explore the 250+ consoles, plus thousands of games on display. On an interactive journey, you’ll travel the history of video games.

How have video games come so far? Discover the beginning of early video games like Spacewar! Then see the new up and coming developments in the space. Take your time to play at this museum and beat your friends in the arcade. This is probably the best history lesson you’re gonna get.

  • The History of Gaming: unlike other museums, you get an interactive history lesson by trying out tons of games. Play along every step of the way to see how video games have levelled up over the years. Plus, tons of figurines on display all over to see.
  • The Future of Gaming: are we in for a boom in VR or cursed visual novels? Pixel hosts events like conferences and other events to explore the next steps for the gaming world, including video game creation classes for kids. Check their website to see what’s on

Pixel Museum is inside Hôtel des Douanes until early 2021. After which it’ll be moving on to Tour & Taxis, right next to it. There’s always tons of events here; everything from art fairs to eco-friendly markets. If you’re heading to the Pixel Museum anyway, you may as well pop in to Tour & Taxis.

Tips and Tricks

  • You get a passport guide with descriptions about each display in the museum but it's unfortunately only in French as of right now.

Getting There

  • By Car: near to parking spaces Indigo - Parking Up Site and Parking Esplanade - Tour & Taxis. You can also park on the street but need a blue parking disc
  • By Train: short walk away from Tour-en-Taxis railway station
  • By Tram: short walk away from tram stations Yser (Tram 51 stops here) and Saint Catherine

Open; reserve a timeslot. As they allow you to play games, you'll be touching the controllers, recommend you bring gloves and hand sanitizer yourself. There is hand sanitizer available on-site but it was empty at times. Gloves are not available on site.
