Hey you romantics, if you cross the bridge with your SO, according to local legend, you two will be together forever. Or, just go for a stroll around this beautiful park

Minnewaterpark is on the southern end of Bruges. It’s known for its beautiful and romantic lake. Take a stroll around to enjoy the picturesque scenery. Couples, aspiring photographers, and anyone looking for a chill walk need to go here at least once. There’s lots of beautiful nature and wildlife to see from swans to fairy tale mansions.

Why is this park so well known? Well, the local legend is that a young woman named Minna fell in love with a guy called Stromberg. Her dad forced her to marry someone else, so she ran to the woods. When her man finally found her, she died in his arms from exhaustion. Ever since then it’s been a park known for its romantic look.

  • Cross the Bargebrug bridge with your partner and give them a smooch. According to legend, you’ll be together forever
  • It might not be Swan Lake, but there are tons of swans. Swans are the symbol of Bruges and you’ll see plenty of them around the lake
  • The park has lots of events in every season. They’re known for the three day Cactus Musical Festival in July and ice skating in the winter. For an extra special Christmas experience, walk through the Lake of Love during its Winter Glow Light & Experience Trail: over 12 light installations each year to luminate the path for you and your loved one.
  • Keep your relaxing romantic stroll going at the nearby Ten Wijngaerde. This beguinage is a row of pretty houses and a nunnery. It’s a great historical site and just as pretty as the lake
