Get lost in this 100 hectare forest. Walk, jog, cycle or mountain bike your way through the tall trees.

This forest has got lots of things going on! In total, you can find 8 kilometers of hiking trails. You have a choice of 5 paths: yellow, red, green, blue and orange. There are maps everywhere and everything is clearly indicated, so unless you're really bad at maps, there's no way one can get lost. Plus, people are really nice here. Yup, other walkers will say good morning to you!

  • The yellow trail is for cycling and mountain biking.
  • The orange trail is for cyclers and bikers.
  • Pick what you like if you're a walker or runner! The red trail is a bit more off the beaten path and you can really walk among the trees, so this one is definitely recommended.
  • Play zones for the kiddos: there are designated play areas around the park where bikers are not allowed. This is not a regular playground. Your kids will have to go back to how things used to be when we grew up and bring out their imagination. Get out there and explore! These 4 areas are designated as the "Speelzone" more detail in Dutch can be found here.
  • Photo hunt for the family (only in Dutch): there's a photo scavenger hunt that you can do as a family (download here). Note read up ahead of time as you need some equipment.

Tips and Tricks

  • Maps can be found readily across the park; the trails are in very good condition and make for a nice stroll, run or bike ride.
  • When raining it gets a bit muddy so take your walking shoes but you're quite sheltered under the trees (note this doesn't mean you should go when it's pouring either).

Getting There

  • By Car: Park near the starting point on the street, there is no actual parking lot.
  • By Bus: Bus n49 Wachtebeke Kloosterbos station. Note this is only a good option if you're not too far.
